• Safe Hoist Operation: Step-by-step practical training in safely fitting, attaching, and removing slings, and correctly operating the hoist for transfers including bed to chair, chair to toilet, and floor-level transfers.

• Risk Assessment for Hoisting: How to carry out a risk assessment for hoisting tasks using the TILE framework (Task, Individual, Load, Environment), including assessment of the patient, the environment, and the equipment.

On successful completion of our Patient Hoist Training, participants receive a recognised Patient Hoist Training Certificate valid for 3 years. 

The HSA recommends that hoist training is repeated at regular intervals, and more frequently when new equipment or changed risks are introduced. Our certificate is recognised by employers across Irish healthcare, including hospitals, nursing homes, community care providers, and special needs settings. Participants are recommended to hold a valid Patient Handling Certificate prior to attending this course.
