Please note that the Sports First Aid Course does not replace the PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) qualification, which is the standard required by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) for designated occupational first aiders in Irish workplaces. For coaches and club officials who require both qualifications, we recommend combining this course with our full Emergency First Aid Response training.

Assessment and Certification

On successful completion of our Emergency First Aid Response Training, participants who pass both the MCQ theory exam (60% pass mark) and two practical skills assessments receive an official PHECC First Aid Responder Digital Certificate, valid for 2 years

As of March 2025, all PHECC certificates are issued digitally. This is the only certificate recognised by the HSA for designated occupational first aiders in Irish workplaces. It is also recognised by TUSLA as the required first aid standard for childcare settings in Ireland. Recertification must be completed before the certificate expires — a full 3-day course is required if the certificate has lapsed.
